Plugin Problems

Postby Zhaligkeer » Sun Feb 12, 2012 4:58 pm

So here is the deal, I have set up a basic Bukkit server with no plugins, works fine. now the purpose of this server is basically so I can practice using the various tools used in Voxel Box so I will not be walking in completely unprepared. so I am wanting to get used to the tools one at a time. now, as I understand it step one of installing a plugin is simply drop the .jar file (in this case Voxelsniper) into the plugins folder and start up the server again where it should create a folder or something. problem is when I do this step I get an error and my server will not stop.

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\jline_git-Bu
kkit-1_1-R3-b1846jnks.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform

-I am running windows 7 64 bit-

(I can post the rest of what the server says later if need be, but I think this is the only actual error it showed)

now from what little I know of this stuff I think it means voxelsniper is 32 bit and my server is running in 64? but I don't believe I ever saw two different versions of the plugin available for download, I just grabbed the only link off of Voxel Wiki. I have searched all kinds of forums and websites for the answer, and whereas a couple of people have posted the same problem nobody ever answers them. so I am hoping someone here knows the answer. Please help, I would love to join Voxelbox sometime in the near future, but if I can't practice a bit I don't think I would be comfortable doing so at this time.

Try running in 32-bit.

I would run a malware scan if I were you, most Java plugins don't have a native code portion so it shouldn't be loading a .dll anyway and sometimes malware strains masquerade as java libraries to fool the JVM into executing them. Unless it's some JIT compilation going on in which case make sure you're running a 64-bit JVM (you can check because your JRE should be installed in "Program Files" not "Program Files (x86)").

It's fine to run 32-bit Java under 64-bit OS but generally the performance is better with 64-bit on a 64-bit OS, so make sure you're all up to date and have the correct Java installed.

Thanks for the ideas, I run regular scans with Malwarebytes, so I highly doubt it is that (ran it again just to be sure). Java is up to date and in "Program Files" not "Program Files (x86)", I am hoping to avoid running in 32 bit, but if nothing else works might have to. the only thing I wonder is would it be a problem for my minecraft classic server file to be located somewhere other than the desktop? I don't see why it would cause a problem, but most tutorials I have seen have them placing it directly on the desktop.

one other thing I considered is perhaps the place I got bukkit itself was corrupted somehow, Where would the official voxelbox bukkit download be? (didn't see it on the wiki) also I am assuming the server software directly off the minecraft site would be wisest?

Just double checked when I got up this morning, and actually I have Java in both the regular and (x86) program files, is there any way to tell which is actually running? could that be the problem?

So.... Just started up my server (no fixes had been applied) and.... it worked this time. weird... anyways thanks for the help, problem resolved. the only thing I can think happened was adobe flash has since updated. so it could have been that even though my version was up to date, there was a problem with it which the update fixed. I don't really know lol.

Just wanted to add, I run a 64 Bit system & I can run a local host with VoxelSniper fine. I don't think that was your problem, was the startup bat file registered for a 64 bit system?
