- Palceon Pack Megathread | v1.4.0 -

Doing magical things with 16x16... and beyond.

Exactly, I'm not a man that would restrict any idea for Palceon unless there was a valid reason.

The exact number is 4,096 and from what I've heard we can expect data values to be included, but we aren't too sure. Hell depending on the API it may be possible to expand this number if need be.

Oh right okay, yeah that's what I meant by roughly 50,000. 4000 x 16 inks = 64,000 textures, lol.

Right on. If I actually manage to make 65,536 textures on my own, I expect a fancy steak dinner and a trophy from Ridge... along with a 10 year leave of absence.

Why Azul, that's only 16,777,216 pixels. :D

_o0o_ Palceon Pack Megathread _o0o_

Postby AzulCaballero » Wed Aug 01, 2012 8:11 pm

More Info and other BS to come...

1.3 Requested Updates

New Additions:
  • The different Cocoa Bean growth stages will be made into a hanging lamp, a Coconut, and either a Cocoa Bean/a hanging plant.
  • Add a thicker wood panel, similar to Modern Pack's
  • 2 others yet to be decided

Changes and Alterations:
  • Retexture cloth blocks to have less contrast.
  • Retexture Monitors to fit in with more blocks.
  • Retexture red brick to be a bit less "cartoony" and more even.
  • Retexture dragon eggs to be more useful

If you would like to voice your opinion on what should go into the 1.3 version of the Palceon Pack take this poll, and/or leave your suggestions in this thread.

I would like different flower colors. The blue flower looks almost neon and sticks out like a sore thumb. i usually remove it when i lay tall grass with bonemeal. Same goes for the other flower texture (onion?) not really sure what it is, but its really bright.

If we're going to have such a huge number of blocks, we need an organising system similar to the one in vanilla minecraft in the new version of the game.
I'm not saying same or even similar, but the principle of sections divided by texturepack would be not useful to have, but a must.
I personaly don't know why kupo/feather don't let you/us use the Organix pack and I think it's a really bad decision. The packs SHOULD be all put together as a whole in one pack, that would be a huge oportunity for all of us. Like Gav said, imagine flowers and wide variety of animals made in organix, sneaking around fantasy towns made with palceon, imagine the impressive colours of crystals from the space pack in a huge cave/ravine with a pretty palceon town. These are all just some ideas from the top of my head, the merging of all texturepacks would really be the choice to go with and if you don't do this, I will find your adress and murde *police breaks into flat, runs away from pc*

That's why more solid colored blocks are planned, I believe.

Could we have Wine wool (35:2) be a little bit less red like the old color?

Totally. I'll try to match all the colours better.

Jinzha wrote:Which block is 35:0? Isn't that horizontal logs?

Correct, with the update all logs will be rotatable allowing us to reuse the 35:0 spot for something new.

Yes the wine wool is used heavily in Thysus specifically because it was that colour. Making it similar to the original colour would be appreciated

But our horizontal log was sooo much better :( . The jeb horizontal logs have the bottom/top of treetrunks on their sides.

An alternative is to leave horz. log in the 35:0 spot and move white granite to a less used block like yellow mosaic or circuitry.

I think it's better than before, except for the splotch of dirt or whatever it's supposed to be. Either make is less noticeable or remove it altogether.

I don't think the change of the end portal frame was a good idea. The texture we had was great and widely used, why would you need to change it?
Also the new texture doesn't allow the frame to be used for horizontal trims like the previous one, because the edges are so obvious. Lastly, the texture is also a bit "dirty": quite a few very noticable irregularities, which make the individual blocks all the more noticeable when put next to one-another.
I'dd say, return to the previous version for this block, the rest of the changes seem great.

Nope. That's actually something I forgot to write down.

Well, I may make some changes in the future to the portal frame but it's going to say ultimately as is. The previous texture annoyed the living shit out of me and was my least favourite block in the entire pack as it did not fit in with the "crispness" of other blocks as the grates were very washed out. Personally, I think there will start to be better use as a slab of rock more than a multi-toned combination of textures.

if it's going to stay as is, could you perhaps remove the defined edges at the side like with stone slabs, so you can have a continuous line with them and take out the two black dots on the left that look like a scar.

EDIT: Also, it's used very often with marble pillars, might be useful to match the colours somewhat.

^ I'm with space on this one. The ender portal had a great use in conjunction with pillars as exemplified in Venatum.

*I was of the opinion that the old wools were fine, but the new ones will be easier to integrate organix-type builds in the palceon world, so I guess I don't really have grief with that.
However, please fix the color of the yellow wool. It looks more like pee now than it did before and doesn't mix well with other blocks.

*white marble tiles very wierd. just sayin.

I did like the new metal beam and block textures though.

It's puke, not piss!

I actually don't see any problem with the wine, but the puke really needs a change. I think Azul is aware though, just busy updating Space pack.
